THE FOURTH METU CONFERENCE ON INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
ANKARA, JUNE 30 - JULY 2, 2005
NEIGHBOURHOOD: PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE
From Ankara Esenboga Airport you can take a yellow cab to METU campus, which will cost you approximately 75-80 New Turkish Liras (around US$50) or take the HAVAS shuttle/bus (you will see them at the door) to Ankara Intercity Bus Terminal (ASTI) -the last stop-and from there taxi to METU. In Ankara, ODTÜ (Turkish acronym for METU) is a well-known name, but cab drivers may fail to recognize METU. From the Intercity Bus Terminal the drive should take no more than ten minutes. This second option should cost approximately 15 New Turkish Liras all together (around US$11). It is both safe and simple for a first timer. Please look for a METU Conference sign while you are at the airport. If you are lucky enough to spot one, that moment is the end of your problems. If you are coming to Ankara by bus, you will be getting off at the ASTI terminal and the best option to get to METU will be by taxi, which will cost around 9-10 New Turkish Liras (US$7-EUR6). IF you get lost, or feel troubled, the keyword to remember is ODTÜ. In general, Ankara is a fairly safe city, and there will be police officals both at the airport and the ASTI terminal. If you will be staying somewhere outside the METU campus, you can take the bus or DOLMUS /shuttle from Güvenpark, Kizilay to METU.
