Course Content The course addresses concepts of power, influence and coercion, the nature of diplomatic and strategic behavior, and is organized around the following areas: The state system after World War II; problems of contemporary strategy: The impact of nuclear weapons; the theory of nuclear deterrence; Crisis Management; Limited War; arms control and the stability of Mutual Deterrence; arms limitations and control; Detente: SALT, Mutual Forces Reduction Talks, the CSCE and the INF Treaty.
