Course Content The aim of the course is to analyze the roots and forms of radicalism in Middle Eastern Politics. Beginning with discussions of Arab nationalism and Arab Baath Socialism the course focuses on the historical roots and the ideological outlook of radical Islam, with particular emphasis on the following issues: Radical Islam and the West, Iran as a revolutionary state, Islamic movements in Lebanon, Egypt, and the Gulf, radical Islam and North Africa.
