Course Content

The essential purpose of this course is to analyze the position of China (the Middle Kingdom) within the regional and international setting. A chronological narrative is deemed to be appropriate for outlining the basic events of the Cold War era and the Chinese economy, with respect to the international economic system. This will help the students to form a historical background in their minds. The bulk of the course, however, will be devoted to the analyses of the present and what the future may hold in store as regards Chinese foreign relations in global international affairs. Case studies, which will frequently be employed, should also provide the students with a more in-depth grasp of events.
