GENERAL FRAMEWORK

 

 

 

 

 

The METU Conference on International Relations, one the oldest annual conferences in Turkey on international relations, is going to be held between 13-15 June 2012, marking its 11th year. The Conference takes pride in annually bringing together scholars from all around the world to exchange views in approximately 50 panels and roundtables.

 

 

The topic of this year’s conference is The World in Crisis. The Conference utilizes the concept ‘crisis’ as a basis for analysis, evaluation, questioning and discussion. It aims to provide the broadest possible framework for scholars, policy-makers and experts who work on different aspects of ‘crisis’ across geographic, economic, social and political dimensions. The themes of the conference will include, but are not limited to, the following:

PAPER ABSTRACTS /PANEL PROPOSALS

 

 

 

 

 

The Conference invites abstracts for individual papers or complete panel proposals. All abstracts and panel proposals should be submitted before 30 March  2012.

 

 

 

 

 

APPLICATION INFORMATION

 

 

An application should include:

 

 

1. The paper/panel title
2. A short abstract including methodology, main assumptions and conclusions of paper (2500 characters maximum)
3. Author/participant name(s) and institutional affiliations
4. A one paragraph biographical statement of each participant (not a detailed CV)
5. Author/participant e-mail addresses (essential), telephone and fax numbers
6. Any audio-visual equipment requests (if applicable)

 

 

The Conference Committee encourages electronic submissions, by filling the online application form. However, those who have limited access to electronic communication facilities can send their proposals via fax provided that the proposal deadline is observed.

 

 

 

 

 

CONFERENCE TIMETABLE

 

 

30 March 2012: Final date for submission of panel proposals and paper abstracts
15 April 2012: Authors will be informed of acceptance of their applications
4 May 2012: Last day for registration (A late registration fee will be charged after this date) 

 

 

1 June 2012: Final date for submission of papers
June 13-15, 2012: Conference

 

 

 

 

 

VENUE

 

 

The Conference will be held at the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences B-Building, Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey.

 


 

 

SCHEDULE

 

 

The Conference will begin on Wednesday 13 June 2012 and end on Friday, 15 June 2012.

 

 

 

 

 

REGISTRATION

 

 

Conference Registration Fees
Registration Fee: U.S. $ 70, € 50
Student Fee: U.S. $ 35, € 25
Registration Fee on Arrival: U.S. $ 100, € 70
Corporate Fee: U.S. $ 170, € 120

Registration fee includes opening cocktail, conference dinner, lunches, refreshments and conference materials. Those who do not wish to make use of these facilities may participate to the panels as listeners without any payment.

 

 

 

 

 

FUNDING

 

 

A few scholarships, particularly for student participants, are available for registration and accommodation expenses. Please contact the Conference Secretariat for further information.

 

 

 

 

 

ACCOMMODATION

 

 

Accommodation costs will be covered by the participants. Details of the accommodation information will be provided to the participants after the acceptance of the paper proposals.

 

 

 

 

 

TRAVEL

 

 

Travel costs will be covered by the participants. Details of the travel information and how to reach to Ankara and the venue are available here.
