Course Content The course will consist of lectures concerning the sociological aspects of international relations. It will attempt to provide a sociological perspective and interpretation to the main controversies prevalent in international relations (theory). The main theme of the course is the necessity to develop a sociological perspective to international relations. This implies the analysis of the relation between social relations and other social forms such as the state, the state system, power and law. Therefore, an analysis of the relation between social relations, social forms and its implications for the theory of international relations will be discussed. It will also be demonstrated through out the course that a sociological perspective to the prevalent disputes of realism/neorealism, idealism and some interpretations of theories of globalization.
